SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of video processing and, in particular, to the interpolation of a fractional sample used in motion compensation. Interpolation of fractional samples is applied to the extracted samples to generate fractional samples. Interpolation of fractional samples contains a lot of filtering operations, and all filtered results from filtering operations are truncated to a predetermined bit depth which does not depend on the bit depth of samples stored in reference image memory.
EFFECT: providing effective motion compensation for inter-frame prediction, which has low complexity and high accuracy.
