SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary medicine and can be used for the preventive treatment of iodine deficiency disorders and correction of pathobiochemical processes in cows, proceeding according to the metabolic acidosis type. Method for preventing iodine deficiency and correction of metabolism in cows includes using an iodine-containing preparation, obtained by adding succinic acid to a ready iodinol solution in an amount of 1 wt %, wherein the preparation is administered intramuscularly at a dose of 10 ml at intervals of 15 days a month before delivery and the 2nd and 17th day after parturition.

EFFECT: invention provides the effective prevention of iodine deficiency disorders and correction of pathobiochemical processes in cows in the most problematic periods of their industrial exploitation, namely in the interlactation period and early lactation period.
