FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for producing paraxylene from a C₄ stream and a C₅₊ catalytic naphtha stream from the catalytic cracking apparatus. Method comprises: a) separating a stream of C₅-C₉ non-aromatic compounds and a first stream of C₆-C₁₀ aromatic compounds from the C₅₊ catalytic naphtha stream, wherein step a) comprises a distillation step and an extraction step; b) forming a second stream of C₆-C₁₀ aromatic compounds from a C₄ stream and a stream of C₅-C₉ non-aromatic compounds, wherein at least one of the C₄ stream and stream of C₅-C₉ non-aromatic compounds contains olefins; c) removing impurities, via the impurity removal section, from the first and second C₆-C₁₀ aromatic streams to obtain a purified stream of C₆-C₁₀ aromatic compounds; d) directing catalytic reforming and pyrolysis products to the separation section; e) separating, in the separation section, the C₆-C₇ stream, the first C₈ stream, the C₉-C₁₀ stream and the C₁₁₊ stream from purified streams of C₆-C₁₀ aromatic compounds and catalytic reforming and pyrolysis products; f) feeding the C₆-C₇ stream and the C₉-C₁₀ stream to the xylene production section to produce a second C₈ stream; and g) feeding the first and second C₈ streams to the paraxylene production section to produce high purity paraxylene, wherein the paraxylene production section comprises a paraxylene separation zone and a xylene isomerisation zone. Separation section comprises a distillation zone that includes a benzene column and a toluene column, and wherein the xylene generation section of step f) shares the benzene column and the toluene column of the separation section.

EFFECT: proposed method allows the use of light and heavy hydrocarbons.
