FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metrology, in particular to methods for determining the mechanical and physical properties of titanium alloys. Method of choosing a titanium alloy for an ultrasonic waveguide consists in determining the mechanical and physical properties and structure of alloys, while determining the tensile strength σV, yield strength σ0.2, the speed of sound in two mutually perpendicular directions and choose an alloy with a tensile strength of not less than 1,200 MPa, attitudes σ0.2/σV in the range 0.9–0.95, the speed of sound is not less than 6,150 m/s in both directions and the difference in velocities is not more than 50 m/s.
EFFECT: determination and justification of the choice of a rational combination of physical mechanical properties of a titanium alloy and its structure for ultrasonic waveguides.
