SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used to drive a rotating alternating current machine connected to a mechanical device. Control device (10) for rotating machine (1) of the alternating current includes: current detection unit (3); command generating unit (4) for generating a voltage command using a moment of inertia J; speed estimation unit (6) for calculating the estimated velocity ω0 based on the voltage command and the detected current; output torque calculating unit (7) for calculating the output torque based on the detected current and a moment of inertia computation unit (8) for calculating the moment of inertia J. Output torque calculation unit (7) specifies a delay characteristic corresponding to an estimated speed estimation delay ω0, in the output torque, and the moment of inertia calculation unit (8) calculates the moment of inertia J based on the estimated velocity ω0 and an output torque having a delay characteristic.

EFFECT: technical result is to ensure the accuracy of calculating the moment of inertia without using a velocity sensor and a position sensor.
