FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used to remove sulphides from aqueous solutions, including those from wash waters formed during the purification of natural gas. To carry out the process, an aqueous solution containing sulphides is subjected to sulfide oxidizing bacteria in the presence of oxygen in a bioreactor to oxidize the sulfide to elemental sulfur. Gas containing oxygen is fed through pipes (5) to reactor (1) with aqueous medium (2) such that one or more aerated zones (A) with an upward flow of fluid (8) and one or more non-aerated zones (B) with a downward flow of liquid (8) that are not separated from each other by the internal structures of the reactor are generated. Reactor (1) comprises a reaction zone with aqueous medium (2) without separating walls, gas supplying device containing oxygen (5) located near bottom (4) of reactor (1), device for injecting (6) aqueous solution containing sulphide into aqueous medium (2) in zone (B) which does not contain gas supplying device (5).
EFFECT: simplified technology of oxidation of sulphides in an aqueous solution while reducing the formation of undesirable by-products of the reaction and increased amount of sulfur that is being recovered.
