SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a control method for a method of converting bisulphide to elemental sulfur in an aqueous solution containing sulphide-oxidising bacteria, in which an electrochemical cell is provided, comprising a cathode electrode, an anode electrode and a reference electrode, where said electrodes are in contact with said aqueous solution, where a certain potential is applied between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode or between the anode electrode and the reference electrode, thus obtaining current between the cathode electrode and the anode electrode, where this current is measured between the cathode electrode and the anode electrode, while maintaining a constant potential between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode or maintaining a constant potential between the anode electrode and the reference electrode, where the measured current is a measure of the bioactivity of the sulphide-oxidising bacteria in the conversion of bisulphide to elementary sulfur, and the method is adapted in response to the measured current.

EFFECT: use of the disclosed method enables real-time measurement of the bioactivity of sulphide-oxidising bacteria.
