FIELD: hydro acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of hydroacoustics and can be used to detect and measure the thickness of ice on the water surface, as well as to get the information on the shape of the lower ice edge from an underwater object. This invention’s aim is to reduce the methodological error in estimating ice thickness. In the method, the claimed device consists of high-frequency receive-emitting antenna 1, low-frequency receiving antenna 2, switch 3, transmitting unit 4, two-channel receiver unit 5, dual-channel digital signal processing unit 6, first threshold distance estimation unit 7, first weighted average distance estimator 8, first distance estimation decision unit 9, control unit 10, first interface classification unit 11, second threshold distance estimation unit 12, second weighted average distance estimator 13, second distance decision unit 14, second interface classification unit 15, ice thickness estimation unit 16, indicator 17, storage unit 18. Such design of the parametric ice fathometer makes it possible to reduce methodical errors in estimating the thickness of ice.
EFFECT: technical result consists in taking into account the unevenness of the interface surface of media when estimating the distance from the radiation point to the interface between two media.
