FIELD: cattle breeding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chewy compositions for animals. For preparing a chewy edible composition, a liquid premix is prepared by mixing a humectant with other liquid ingredients, if any. Collagen or a collagen derivative is mixed with other dry ingredients, if any, to prepare a dry premix. Liquid premix and the dry premix are chilled to a temperature between about -15 °C to about 7 °C. Liquid premix and the dry premix are mixed at a temperature between about -15 °C to about 7 °C to form a pourable paste. Paste is poured into a heat-stable container. Container is heated at a temperature and for a time sufficient to produce a cooked paste. Cooked paste is cooled to form the chewy edible composition. Invention relates to a chewy edible composition which is prepared by the above method. Invention relates to a pourable paste for producing a chewy edible composition, wherein the paste comprising a humectant and collagen or a collagen derivative and less than about 50 % water. Invention relates to a chewable edible composition comprising glycerol and gelatin, comprising less than about 20 % water.
EFFECT: invention allows producing an easily manipulable pourable paste.
