FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely iron doping with nitrogen. Method for alloying an iron melt with nitrogen comprises obtaining a powder mixture by mixing iron powder with boron or aluminum nitride powders, and the resulting powder mixture is pressed into briquettes at a pressure of 30–40 MPa. Pressed briquettes are placed in a crucible and loaded into a vacuum oven, pumped to a residual pressure of 1–10 Pa, nitrogen is injected to atmospheric pressure and heated in a nitrogen atmosphere to a temperature of 1,550–1,600 °C, with melting and holding the melt at this temperature for 60–180 minutes.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the nitrogen content in the volume of the iron ingot.
