FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to production of addition alloys for permanent magnets based on neodymium. Method comprises mixing neodymium oxide with graphite powder and powder of iron or cast iron, obtained mixture is pressed into briquettes at pressure 80-120 MPa, briquettes are laid in graphite crucible, which is placed in vacuum furnace and heated to temperature of 900-1,000 °C with formation of melt and holding at said temperature for 30-60 minutes at residual pressure of 0.25-5 kPa to decomposition of neodymium hydroxide and removal of water vapour, after holding gas is pumped to pressure of 1-10 Pa, subsequent release of inert gas to pressure of 30-50 kPa to produce non-corrosive gas atmosphere and raising temperature to 1,800-2,000 °C, and a reduction process is carried out for 180-360 minutes and discharging produced melt into mould for production of an addition alloy of neodymium-iron after cooling and removing ingot.
EFFECT: invention simplifies production of addition alloy based on neodymium from initial oxide during one thermal cycle.
