FIELD: transportation, packaging and storage of goods.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed are a system and a method for automatically controlling the flow of asphalt from a truck unloading hopper of a material transfer vehicle into the entry end of an adjacent truck-unloading conveyor in order to optimise at least one operating parameter of the material transfer vehicle; system includes a baffle that is mounted to the truck-receiving hopper adjacent to the entry end of the truck-unloading conveyor and adapted to increase or decrease the hopper opening into the truck-unloading conveyor, a controller that is operatively connected to the baffle and adapted to send a signal to the baffle, a sensor for detecting the at least one operating parameter of the material transfer vehicle, connected to the controller.
EFFECT: invention comprises a system and method for automatically controlling the flow of asphalt material from a truck-receiving hopper of a material transfer vehicle into the entry end of an adjacent truck-unloading conveyor in order to optimize at least one vehicle operating parameter.
