FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of ionic liquids. Method includes the following steps: a) bringing at least one electron pair acceptor into contact with at least one electron pair donor to form an adduct, wherein the molar ratio of the electron pair acceptor to the electron pair donor is from about 1:1 to about 1:5, wherein the electron donor is selected from the group consisting of phosphine, amide, alkyl sulfoxide, ester and alcohol, or any combination thereof; and b) bringing the adduct into contact with at least one electron-pair acceptor to form an ionic liquid, wherein the molar ratio of the adduct and acceptor of the electron pair varies from about 1:1 to 1:6. Also, a method for the preparation of an adduct, an ionic liquid, an adduct and the use of an ionic liquid are also provided.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to simplify the method for obtaining ionic liquids.
