FIELD: technological processes; remedies.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to materials of multilayer armored panels used for individual protection and for protection of weapons, military and special equipment. Composite armor includes boron carbide and reinforcing fibers. Material further comprises polymeric binder-matrix, abrasive mineral material with particle size of not more than 140 mcm with the following ratio of the components in mass. %: polymer binder 7–29, abrasive mineral material 2–20, superhard mineral filler 50–87, high strength reinforcing fibers up to 15. High-strength reinforcing fibers have a length of at least 1.7 mm. Super hard mineral filler is polyfraction boron carbide B4C: 120 mcm – 75 mass. % and 40 mcm – 25 mass. %. Porosity of the armored material is less than 0.5 % by volume.
EFFECT: improved physical-mechanical and strength characteristics of the material, increased ballistic efficiency and reduced production costs.
