FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of forming superhard wear-resistant coatings. Coating is applied on surface of steel substrate by short-pulse laser fusion of powder coating in one treatment. On steel substrate surface layer of powder suspension with thickness of 15–100 mcm is applied by means of pneumatic spraying, by dipping into suspension or by application by brush and roller. Powder composition used is a powder mixture of the following composition, wt. %: boron carbide B4C - base; boron nitride BN - 0–60 %; graphite GII-A - 0–20 %. Microhardness of the coating surface is HV 1600–4300, heat resistance is 900 °C, friction coefficient with lubrication is 0.03–0.04, friction coefficient without lubrication is 0.1–0.2.
EFFECT: technical result using this method consists in obtaining a superhard wear-resistant coating with low friction coefficient with thickness of 10–50 mcm per one treatment, having thickness gradient properties.
