FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the stabilization of an electrodynamic cable system (ECS), preferably in a low earth orbit, close to a circular equatorial one. ECS, designed for the orientation mode near the local vertical (with a relatively weak current along the cable), is equipped at the ends of the cable-rope collectors to collect charges of opposite signs. Required values of the positive and negative charges are supported by the emitters of the electron beams, respectively, from the collector to the end body and from the end body to the collector. Rope parameters are chosen taking into account the perturbing moments and in the presence of damping from the stability conditions of the ECS position near the local vertical.
EFFECT: technical result consists in simplifying and increasing the reliability of the stabilization device, as well as in expanding the stability region of the vertical position of ECS.
