SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the rail transport, and describes the freight car bogie side frame manufacturing. For the side frame manufacturing, producing the lower and upper half molds, installing the sprue-feeding system, including risers, assembling the half molds with rods to form the casting cavity, pouring the metal into the casting cavity, cooling down, extracting the casting and removing the excesses. Side frame supporting platform edges are formed in the form of inclined sections with their coupling with the side frame side wall in the spring opening lower corners zones. During the metal pouring risers are formed with the help of shells with inclined bases and through holes for the lintels-legs in risers formation. Shells are installed on the support platform edges inclined sections.
EFFECT: risers maximum approach to the thermal units enables increase in the side frame strength and reduction in the side frame weight.
