FIELD: technological processes; biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic synthesis and, in particular, to catalysts and reactions for the alkylation of biphenyl with olefins C2-C6. Catalysts are proposed for the alkylation of biphenyl with olefins C2-C6, in which fluorinated Al2O3 or SiO2 are used as a carrying agent, and as a modifier, heteropolyacids H3PW12O41 or H4SiW12O41 are used, content of heteropolyacids on the surface of the carrier is 10–20 % by weight. Also, methods (variants) for alkylating biphenyl with olefins C2-C6 using the claimed catalyst.
EFFECT: technical result is the development of catalysts which, at lower temperatures, for a short time are able to alkylate biphenyl and other polycyclic compounds in olefins C2-C6 with high conversion and yield of alkylaromatics.
