FIELD: nuclear physics and equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of atomic energy and can be used in fast neutron reactors with a liquid metal coolant. Fast neutron reactor with a liquid metal coolant contains vertically installed fuel assemblies of the core and side zone of reproduction. Fuel assemblies are made in the form of a metal structure rigidly connected to the head and shank. At the same time, inside the metal structure there is a free filling of the coated particle fuels of the core and the reproduction zone.
EFFECT: increased radiation safety of a fast neutron reactor in the modes of severe accidents with increased core temperature, improved characteristics of the fuel cycle, reduced pressure drop and flow rate for pumping the coolant, increased output of the medium-temperature coolant temperature, excluding large efforts in extracting spent fuel assemblies.
