FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a side block for a wall in an electrolytic cell, in particular for producing aluminum, to a method for manufacturing such a side block, and to the use of such a side block, as well as to an electrolytic cell with such a side block. Said side block is a layered element comprising a layer with a higher thermal conductivity and a layer with a lower thermal conductivity, wherein the difference in thermal conductivity is at least 5 W/(m⋅K) at a temperature of between 920 °C and 1,000 °C, wherein at least one of the layers is doped with silicon as a powder, an oxide ceramic material, or a non-oxide material. Also, a method for manufacturing such a side block is disclosed, as well as the use of a side block for lining the side walls of an electrolytic cell for producing aluminum and an electrolytic cell for producing aluminum with a sidewall with such a side block.
EFFECT: ensured the creation of optimal technological conditions to achieve high profitability and stability during electrolysis, increased life of the cell by increasing the resistance to abrasion and / or corrosion wear.
