SUBSTANCE: item having a visual image that depends on particular conditions comprises a substrate and one or more layers of a transparent coating on the surface of the substrate including a plurality of grains having a weighted average diameter. On the surface of the substrate, there are first and second portions, so that the total thickness of all layers of the transparent coating in the first portion is equal to T1, and the total thickness of all layers of the transparent coating in the second portion is equal to T2, and the difference between T1 and T2 is equal to or greater than the weighted average diameter of said set of grains. Said grains are spherical and contain no voids, contain an organic polymer and have a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.65.

EFFECT: technical result is the provision of an item having a visual image, without the use of reflective surfaces and the arrangement of grains in a particular configuration, and also simplification of manufacturing.
