SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the preparation of a chlorine containing catalyst. Described is a process for the preparation of a chlorine containing catalyst, comprising the following steps: (a) providing a Fischer-Tropsch catalyst comprising: titanium dioxide, 5 to 35 % by weight of cobalt, more preferably in the range of 10 to 35 % by weight, even more preferably in the range of 15 to 30 % by weight of cobalt, even more preferably in the range of 15 to 25 % by weight of cobalt, based on the total weight of the catalyst, in the range of 0.1 to 15 % by weight of the promoter, preferably in the range of 0.5 to 5 % by weight of the promoter, based on the total weight of the catalyst, the promoter containing manganese or rhenium, most preferably manganese; (b) impregnating the catalyst using one or more solutions containing chloride ions, until the catalyst comprises 0.13 to 10 % by weight of element chlorine, calculated on the total weight of the catalyst; (c) heating the impregnated catalyst at a temperature in the range of 100 to 500 °C, preferably from 100 to 400 °C, more preferably from 100 to 350 °C, for at least 5 minutes up to 2 days, preferably for at least 15 minutes up to 1 day, more preferably for at least 15 minutes up to 5 hours.
EFFECT: technical result is the stability of the catalysts over an extended period of time, an increase in the selectivity with respect to C5+ hydrocarbons.
