FIELD: physics; technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the catalytic device for the phthalic acid anhydride production by means of oxidation in the aromatic hydrocarbons gaseous phase, containing reactor having the feed gas inlet side and the produced gas outlet side, as well as the first catalyst bed from the catalyst bodies and at least one second catalyst bed from the catalyst bodies, at that, the first catalyst bed is located on the gas inlet side, second catalyst bed is located downstream of the first catalyst bed downstream of the gas stream, wherein the said catalyst bodies comprise the active composition outer layer, where the active composition content in the second catalyst layer is from 2 to 6 wt. % of the catalyst bodies total mass and where in the corresponding catalyst bed, the active composition total surface area to the catalyst bed volume ratio is from 12,000 to 16,000 cm-1.

EFFECT: invention also relates to the phthalic acid anhydride production method by means of oxidation in the aromatic hydrocarbons gaseous phase and to the catalytic device use in the phthalic acid anhydride production.
