FIELD: image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recognising a picture type. Method for recognising a picture type comprises steps of: obtaining the histograms of respective channels in the preset colour space of the picture to be identified, this preset colour space comprising the RGB colour space; calculating a quantity ratio of neighboring grey scale pixels of respective channels according to the obtained histograms; if the calculated ratio satisfies a preset condition, determining that the picture to be recognised is a natural picture; and if the calculated ratio does not satisfy the preset condition, determining that the picture to be recognized is a composite picture, wherein the preset condition comprises the number of decimal places of the ratio greater than five.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy of recognising picture type in a mobile terminal.
