FIELD: computer equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer equipment. Self-updating apparatus capable of characterizing different items is disclosed, wherein the apparatus includes: First processing unit, which includes: first measurement unit configured to receive objects and perform physical measurements of objects; memory storing parameters for items, and the parameters are useful or characterizing different items based on physical changes made in respect to the items and characteristics calculated using physical changes; and a first processing module including an artificial intelligence program, wherein the first processing unit: automatically selects from a variety of sources a source from which new parameters should be received, wherein the source includes a second measurement unit configured to receive objects and perform physical measurements thereof, and wherein the first processing unit selects new reception parameters based on comparison between the physical measurements performed by the first processing unit and the physical measurements performed by the sources; automatically changes at least some of the parameters stored in the memory in accordance with the new parameters received from the source and in accordance with the measurements performed by the first processing unit to generate the changed parameters; and transmits a subset of the changed parameters to one or more recipients.

EFFECT: providing a self-updating apparatus for characterizing an object configured to automatically update memory parameters thereof based on the memory parameters of other machines from the corresponding network of machines.
