Fingerprint authentication method comprises carrying out fingerprint authentication when a physical button having a fingerprint authentication sensor is being pressed down, when a user’s finger touches the physical button, to obtain a first authentication result, when the first authentication result is that authentication has failed, carrying out fingerprint authentication when the physical button is being lifted up, when a user's finger presses a physical button down, to obtain a second authentication result, and using the second authentication result as the final authentication result for the current fingerprint authentication.

EFFECT: technical result is the increased efficiency of fingerprint authentication.
