SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and apparatus for fingerprints recognition that relate to the technical field of computers. Method obtains one or more recognition records, each of which indicates a fingerprint pattern from at least two previously stored fingerprint patterns that successfully matches the input fingerprint, each time fingerprint recognition is performed; re-ranking at least two fingerprint patterns in accordance with recognition records; and, after receiving a new input fingerprint, associating this new input fingerprint with at least two fingerprint patterns in the order in which these at least two fingerprint patterns are re-ranked. Present invention compares with fingerprint patterns in accordance with previous successful matches and assigns the highest rating to the most commonly used or last used fingerprint pattern when performing subsequent fingerprint recognition.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the time and increasing the speed of recognition of fingerprints.
