FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemistry of high-molecular compounds, in particular to a method for producing a drag reducing additive of the suspension type. Described is a method for obtaining a drag reducing additive stable to agglomeration during long-term storage in the form of a non-aqueous suspension of high molecular weight polymer based on higher α-olefins or their copolymers with ethylene and / or propylene and / or dienes and molecular weight (Mw) of 8.5⋅106 up to 11.0⋅106, with a particle size of 50–800 microns, in a dispersion medium consisting of a mixture of higher alcohols, glycols and an adhesion reducing powder. Further, the method of the present invention involves the steps of (co)polymerizing the monomers to form a solution of the (co)polymer in the monomer(s), to which the components of the dispersion medium are then added, while at the same time gradually distilling the unreacted monomer.
EFFECT: obtaining a non-aqueous suspension of a drag reducing additive stable to agglomeration during storage in a wide range of temperatures, effectively reducing the hydrodynamic resistance of hydrocarbons during their turbulent flow through the pipeline.
