FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst for the reduction of nitric oxide in waste gas from a combustion plant. Said catalyst contains a catalytically active component which contains vanadium and a sacrificial component constituting a clay mineral, the clay mineral being a halloysite, where the sacrificial component absorbs the catalyst poison in the waste gas and where the catalytically active component and the sacrificial component are present in the layers with the catalytically active component in or on a carrier and the sacrificial component as an outer layer on the layer containing the catalytically active component, or as a mixture of the catalytically active component and the sacrificial component in one layer. Invention also relates to a method for purifying waste gas from a combustion plant.
EFFECT: technical result is to increase the resistance of the catalyst to catalyst poisons.
