SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to psychiatry and narcology. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is recorded, from the electrodes, located on the international system 10/20, determine the aggregate distribution of the mean values of the power of the EEG rhythms in the following frequency ranges: 14–20 Hz (beta 1), 21–30 Hz (beta 2), 11–20 Hz (alpha 2), 5.0–7.0 Hz (theta) and 1.0–4.0 Hz (delta). With a simultaneous power value: a beta 2 rhythm in the region of the left frontal pole Fp1, in the left anterior-temporal F7, in the frontal F1; F2, left central C3, and occipital areas O1, O2 – 0.54 ± 0.20 mcV2/Hz; beta 1 in the region of the right frontal pole Fp2; in the left central C3, right parietal areas of P4, and alpha 2 in the right central C4, right parietal areas of P4 is 1.32 ± 0.61 mcV2/Hz; theta – in the left mid- and posterior-temporal regions of T3, T5 and delta – in the area of the left middle T3 temple is equal to 0.68 ± 0.2 mcV2/Hz, diagnose a pathological attraction to alcohol.

EFFECT: method allows to increase the reliability of the diagnosis, which is achieved by determining the values of the total power of the EEG rhythms in the above-mentioned frequency ranges.
