SUBSTANCE: device comprises a transport device for moving containers along path (F), a group of mounting heads, each head being configured to screw the cover onto a corresponding neck, and the device for moving the containers moves each head so that it mates with the corresponding neck and is configured to act on the common support member for the heads. Heads are moved synchronously with the conveying device, and each head comprises at least two gripping elements for contacting the lid and screwing the lid on the neck, that are arranged to be driven between the position of the contact interaction with the cover to rotate about the axis and the disengagement position. In addition, the device further comprises a dispenser for releasing the covers to the neck portions, each head comprising a drive device for displacing the gripping members so that the gripping members move to the lid or from the lid, and the drive device is further configured to rotate the gripping members around the longitudinal axis.
