FIELD: packaging industry.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises an induction welding unit for attaching the lid to the container, and the means of conveying the flow of containers to and from the welding unit, at that the conveying means comprises a feeding structure, a main element of the conveyor and a movable gripping structure. The feeding structure is made with the ability to convey the containers one by one in a continuous manner to the main element of the conveyor, the gripping structure is made with the ability to convey the containers from the main element to the welding unit, and the device is designed so that during the normal operation mode the containers are placed on the same line close to each other on the side of the feeding structure located closer upstream. At that the feeding structure is made with the ability to separate during operation the adjacent containers from each other in the direction of conveying by increasing the feeding rate of each container along the feeding structure to increase the distance between the adjacent containers fed along the feeding structure, the main element is made with the ability to operate at a conveying rate approximately corresponding and constant relative to the rate of unloading the containers while feeding from the feeding structure, so that the containers fed to and along the main element remain separated. The gripping structure is made with the ability to grip at least two containers and simultaneously convey them from the main element to the welding unit, and the welding unit is made with the ability to attach the lid simultaneously to each container. The method of sealing the open end of this container comprises attachment of the lid to the container in the induction welding unit and conveying the container flow to and from the welding unit. At that the containers are conveyed one by one continuously from the feeding structure to the main element of the conveyor, then the containers are conveyed from the main element to the welding unit by the movable gripping structure, the adjacent containers are separated from each other in the conveying direction by increasing the feeding rate of each individual container along the feeding structure for increasing the distance between the adjacent containers, the main element is activated at a speed of conveying which corresponds approximately and constant relative to the rate of unloading of containers when feeding from the feeding structure, so that the containers conveyed to and along the main element remain separated, at least two containers are gripped by the movable gripping structure and these containers are simultaneously conveyed from the main element to the welding unit, where the lid is simultaneously attached to each of the containers.
