SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrophotographic image forming apparatus that forms an image on the recording material by an electrophotographic method using an installed cartridge and a cartridge. Claimed group of inventions includes an image forming apparatus and a cartridge for mounting in an image forming apparatus. Image forming apparatus comprises: a main body of the device in which a cartridge is installed, including a first driven body, a second driven body, first engaging portion, intended to engage in receiving the driving force, which causes the driving of the first driven body, and the second engaging portion intended to engage in receiving the driving force, which causes the driving of the second driven body, and a driving force transmitter that includes a first engaging portion engaging the first engagement portion for rotating the first engagement portion, and a second engagement portion engaging a second engagement portion for rotating the second engagement portion and which is rotatable about a predetermined rotation axis, the torque required to rotate the second engagement portion is greater than the torque required to rotate the second engaging portion in a state where the first engaging portion does not engage the first engagement portion.

EFFECT: technical result consists in eliminating the receipt of scratches and defective images.
