FIELD: water and air purification technology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used in the biological treatment of domestic wastewater and landfill wastewater from nitrogen compounds. System comprises: reactor (10); sensor (14) for measuring the concentration of ammonium and transmitting signal (20); sensor (16) for measuring nitrite concentration and transmitting signal (22); sensor (18) for measuring concentration of nitrate and transmitting signal (24); controller (30) for receiving ammonium, nitrite and nitrate concentration signals through one or more links (32) and sending instructions to dissolved oxygen supply control system (36) through link (34) to increase, reduce or maintain the concentration of dissolved oxygen in reactor (10) based on the ratio of ammonium concentration to the sum of nitrite and nitrate concentrations. Methods enable to control temporary anoxia, retention time of solid particles in activated sludge, suppress the growth of nitrite-oxidising bacteria and control dynamic concentrations of dissolved oxygen or aeration time interval while maintaining NH4 and NOx concentrations the reactor approximately equal.

EFFECT: maximum removal of total inorganic nitrogen from low-concentrated wastewater in a wide range of temperatures is provided by controlling the duration of the aerobic and oxygen-free periods.
