SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a shroud retention system. Provided is a shroud retention system comprising mounting boss with a base portion, shelf portion that overhangs opposing sides of the base portion, and a tapered depression formed within the base portion, and a replaceable insert disposed within the tapered depression. Lug insert comprises a body with an upper surface, lower surface and a plurality of tapered side surfaces connecting the upper surface to the lower surface, wherein the upper surface is substantially parallel to the lower surface, and at least one lug protruding from the upper surface. Several tapered side surfaces include a pair of opposing longer side surfaces and a pair of opposing shorter side surfaces inclined to each other so that the length of the upper surface is longer than the length of the lower surface.
EFFECT: lower operating costs and downtime of the earthmoving machine.
