FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, in particular to axle boxes of freight cars, and can be used at car-repair enterprises in determining the amount of welding and surfacing works on the bearing surfaces of axle box bodies. To implement the invention, a method for controlling symmetry of axle box supporting surfaces of a rolling stock is proposed, which provides a device comprising centering element, base ruler and side support brackets with mounting surfaces. To ensure the symmetry of restored bearing surfaces of axle box of the rolling stock, device centering element is fixed in the center hole of wheel pair axis and control of the symmetry placing of axle box surfaces is conducted on the baseline with nonius.
EFFECT: height of metal layer being deposited is determined or thickness of repair plate welded to bearing surface of axle box, which makes it possible to objectively identify repair dimensions.
