SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and devices for burning gaseous or atomized liquid fuel in the mode of gas or drip detonation and can be used in various technological devices and power plants operating on pulse-detonation or continuous-detonation combustion, for example, to initiate detonation in a continuous-detonation combustion chamber of a turbojet engine. This method for initiating detonation in a pipe with a combustible mixture involves the rapid formation of a turbulent flame front, its acceleration and the amplification of the resulting shock wave with the subsequent transition of combustion to detonation. Above formation of a turbulent flame front is carried out in a high-speed turbulent flow of a combustible mixture formed by turbulent mixing of cross-supersonic jets of fuel and an oxidizer, using prechamber flare ignition, at the same time, the prechamber is filled with the combustible mixture coming from the detonation tube, and the ignition of the combustible mixture in the prechamber is carried out using a weak ignition source.

EFFECT: as a result, a rapid transition of combustion to detonation with a very short pre-detonation distance and time is achieved.
