FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a refractory industry, namely to the production of fused refractory materials, specifically to the production of fused zirconia pure with carbon and carbides with stabilizing additives, which is used to produce high-quality refractory products. Charge consisting of baddeleyite concentrate and a stabilizing additive is prepared, followed by melting in an electric arc furnace and cooling the melt. Charge is melted under oxidizing conditions by an open arc at a voltage of 90 V and a phase current of 2.4–2.9 kA for 2 hours. Melt is additionally oxidized in air by draining it from the oven into a lined mold with a layer of 100–300 mm to obtain fused zirconia with a content of the cubic phase within the range of 70–85 %.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to obtain a fused zirconium dioxide pure from carbon and carbides with a content of the cubic phase within the limits of 70–85 % without additional calcination.
