SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition in the form of a dry mixture for preparing a cleaning solution for cleaning carpets and upholstery. Disclosed is a composition in the form of a dry mixture for the preparation of a cleaning solution for cleaning carpets and upholstery, comprising at least one complexing agent, at least one surfactant and at least one component for encapsulating impurities, characterised in that it contains as complexing agents: citric acid in an amount of 10 to 30 wt%, optionally trisodium citrate in an amount of up to 10 wt%, sodium gluconate in an amount of 4 to 6 wt%, oxalic acid in an amount of 1 to 3 wt%, sodium metasilicate in an amount of 0.5 to 1.5 wt%, wherein the total amount of all complexing agents in the composition ranges from 15 to 40 wt%, and wherein the weight ratio of citric acid and/or citrate to oxalic acid and/or oxalate ranges from 5:1 to 20:1, and that the composition contains, as a component for encapsulating impurities, polyacrylic acid or a salt thereof, especially a sodium salt thereof.
