FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used to determine the topography of the charge surface in a shaft furnace. Device comprises a radar device which scans said charge surface, having an antenna device and arranged in the region of a furnace cover, said antenna device being arranged on a rotational axis having an angle of inclination α relative to a vertical axis of said shaft furnace, and being rotatable about said rotational axis by means of a drive device such that a radar fan of the radar radiation of the antenna device extends along the profile line on the charge surface and during rotation the antenna device sweeps across the charge surface.

EFFECT: invention enables to accurately determine the topography of charge surface, and also does not create the danger of a collision with the loading device.
