FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of ion exchange resins. Method for processing the spent ion exchange resins includes grinding the resin grains to a particle size of not more than 500 mcm, preparing 18–22 % slurry of ground resin in an alkali solution in a concentration of 5–50 g/l, suppling oxygen, air enriched with oxygen, and nitrates, including those contained in the bottom residue, to the reactor to a pressure of not less than 220 atmospheres, heating of the suspension in a high-pressure heat exchanger with waste gaseous oxidation products, oxidation of suspension in the reactor under supercritical water conditions at a temperature of 480–580 °C and a pressure of 230–245 atm, removing gaseous oxidation products in the form of water vapor, CO2 and N2 water through a high-pressure heat exchanger, withdrawing solid reaction products in the form of an aqueous suspension, oxidation of solid reaction products in an additional reactor under supercritical water conditions at a temperature of 480–580 °C and a pressure of 235–245 atm, condensation of water vapor, separation of gaseous, solid and liquid phases.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the energy costs of grinding the resin.
