FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aqueous compositions of an organic peroxide used for the polymerisation or copolymerisation of unsaturated ethylene monomers. Disclosed is a composition of an aqueous emulsion of organic peroxide without a protective colloidal agent consisting of (wt%) one or more organic peroxides (10–65), at least one anti-gel agent (2–25), an emulsifier (0.01–10), optionally, at least one additive which is not partially hydrolysed polyvinyl acetate (PVA), water, the amount of which is determined so as to make up the remainder of the composition (up to 100), characterised in that the emulsifier is a non-ionic surfactant selected exclusively from a three-block copolymer, in which the first block is composed mainly of ethylene oxide and in a lesser part propylene oxide, polymerised simultaneously or exclusively polymerised ethylene oxide, the second block consists mainly of propylene oxide and in a smaller part butylene oxide, polymerised simultaneously, or exclusively polymerised propylene oxide and the third block has the same structure as the first or second block described above, but it is covalently bonded only with a block of a different composition; or alkoxylated fatty alcohol; or alkoxylated vegetable or animal oil (hydrogenated or non-hydrogenated); or a mixture of a plurality of these components. Also disclosed is a method of obtaining said composition and its application.

EFFECT: use of said emulsifier, other than PVA, which allows to reduce the viscosity of the resulting composition, simultaneously with the achievement of the stability of the resulting emulsion and a small average droplet size with a uniform and unimodal size distribution.
