SUBSTANCE: absorbent article (1) of the present invention comprises ventral portion (A) disposed on a ventral side of a wearer, dorsal portion (B) disposed on a dorsal side of the wearer, and crotch portion (C) positioned therebetween, wherein at least one of ventral portion (A) and dorsal portion (B) has stretching portions (G1, G2) that stretch and contract in transverse direction (Y). Each of stretching portions (G1, G2) has outer layer sheet (22) disposed distal to the wearer's skin and inner layer sheet (23) disposed proximal to the wearer's skin than the outer layer sheet. Outer layer sheet (22) and inner layer sheet (23) are joined at joining parts (26) disposed sparsely, so that a plurality of joining part rows (26S, 26P) extending along a longitudinal direction X of the article are formed in the transverse direction of the article. Outer layer sheet (22) and/or inner layer sheet (23) between adjacent joining part rows (26S, 26P), by adjoining each other, deform so as to expand in a thickness direction of the stretching portion to form hollow portion (30) between outer sheet (22) and inner sheet (23). Part with opening (m) is formed on joining part (26) so that all or a portion of the part with opening (m) overlaps joining part (26).

EFFECT: present invention provides an absorbent article having a ventral side portion disposed on the ventral side of the wearer, a back side that is disposed on the back side of the wearer, a crotch portion located therebetween, ventral at least one of the parts and back sides and a stretchable part that expands and contracts in the article transverse direction.
