FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to electrophysiological (EF) catheters, in particular to EF-catheters, intended for mapping and/or ablation in the heart. Catheter comprises an elongated catheter body having a proximal and distal ends and at least one lumen passing therethrough; an electrode assembly at the distal end of the catheter body; an expander having proximal and distal ends, which forms the longitudinal axis of the assembly; at least one pulling wire passing through the expander; and a control handle proximal to the catheter body. Electrode assembly has proximal and distal ends and comprises ribs that comprise electrodes. Each edge comprises a curved portion carrying the electrodes, and a substantially straight distal portion. Curved portion extends at an angle from 30 degrees to 80 degrees from the substantially straight distal portion. Ribs are attached at their proximal ends to the catheter body, and at their distal ends are attached to the expander. Pulling wire has a distal end fixed in the expander at a point distal to the distal end of the catheter body and proximal to the distal end of the electrode assembly. Control handle has a drive adapted to move at least one pulling wire. Electrode assembly has an extended configuration when the expander is moved proximally along the longitudinal axis relative to the catheter body, and the electrode assembly has a compressed configuration when the expander is moved distally along the longitudinal axis relative to the catheter body. Expander is configured to deflect in at least one direction when moving at least one pulling wire through the drive. According to a second embodiment of the catheter, the catheter body forms a longitudinal axis, and the expander is adapted for longitudinal movement relative to the catheter body and deviate relative to the longitudinal axis.
EFFECT: inventions have improved maneuvering capabilities to provide better contact with tissue, especially in the cavernous region of the heart, including the atrium.
