FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: divergent catheter contains an elongated body having an outer wall, proximal and distal ends, and a lumen passing through them. The catheter includes a distal end section comprising a tube having a proximal end and a distal end and a plurality of lumens extending therethrough. The proximal end of the distal end section is attached to the distal end of the catheter body. The distal end section comprises a nitinol tube having slits. The section comprises first and second pulling wires passing through the elongated catheter body and the distal end section. The nitinol tube and the first and second pulling wires are configured such that one longitudinal movement of either of them results in a proximal deflection of the elongated catheter body and a distal deviation of the distal end section. Alternative variants of the divergent catheter are disclosed, in which the catheter contains a articulated tube with a crest and a slot. Also in these embodiments, the catheter comprises an intermediate deflectable section, an end electrode, a control handle. In these embodiments, the distal end section has greater stiffness than the intermediate divergent section, the variants differ in the direction of deflection of the intermediate divergent portion and the distal end section.
