SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power engineering. In the method, the Rankin cycle system is designed to convert waste heat into mechanical and/or electrical energy. This system has a novel configuration in which the first closed loop cycle of thermal energy recovery contains the flow of the first working fluid, and the second closed loop cycle of thermal energy recovery contains the second flow of the working fluid, interacting, but not mixing with each other. These two closed loop cycles of thermal energy recovery interact through heat using heat exchangers: a first heat exchanger configured to transfer heat from the flow of the first working fluid to the flow of the second working fluid, and a second heat exchanger adapted to transfer heat from the flow of the second working fluid to the flow of the first working fluid. In one or more embodiments, the Rankin cycle system is configured to use carbon dioxide in the supercritical state as a working fluid.

EFFECT: invention allows to increase the efficiency of conversion of waste heat into mechanical and/or electrical energy.
