SUBSTANCE: invention relates to LED drivers and control methods for driving LEDs. Result is achieved in that the dc voltage converter has a pulse-width control circuit that generates a sequence of pulses, with an on time, an off time and a switching frequency. On time as well as the switching frequency are both varied in dependence on a dimming setting.

EFFECT: reducing the flicker of the light emitted by a LED lighting device.
