FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for processing two-phase titanium alloys with an alpha-beta structure. Method of thermomechanical processing of a workpiece made of two-phase alpha-beta-titanium alloy, comprising steps of processing the workpiece at a first processing temperature in the temperature range from a temperature which is 300 °F (168 °C) below the beta transition temperature of the alloy to a temperature which is 30 °F (16.8 °C) below the beta transition temperature of the alloy, cooling the workpiece from the first processing temperature to the second processing temperature with a cooling rate of not more than 5 °F (2.8 °C) per minute to ensure a globular microstructure of the particles of the alpha phase, processing of the workpiece at the second processing temperature in the temperature range from a temperature which is 600 °F (336 °C) below the beta transition temperature of the alloy to a temperature which is 350 °F (196 °C) below the beta transition temperature of the alloy, and the second processing temperature is lower than the first processing temperature. Workpiece is then processed at a third processing temperature in the temperature range from 1,000 °F (538 °C) up to 1,400 °F (760 °C), wherein the third temperature is lower than the second processing temperature. Workpiece with a fine-grained structure is obtained.
EFFECT: high ductility at a moderate forging speed.
