SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to agricultural machine building. Open throat intake for a baler includes a pickup unit with tines for picking up crop material from the ground and carrying it towards a lower roller located across a baler inlet. Above the lower roller is an upper roller. Both rollers include auger surfaces on outward sides thereof, overlapping with the inlet. Contra-rotating auger portions of the rollers, cooperating with a retainer plate, urge material carried from the outside edges of the pick up unit toward the centre of the baler inlet. Width of the baler inlet is less than that of the pick up unit. Gripping ribs compression and movement of large volumes of crop material.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides reliable movement of the harvested material for subsequent pressing.
