FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to a device and a related method for urinary catheterisation and dilation of the urethral structure. Device for expanding a urethral stricture includes a dilator and a conductor. Dilator has an elongated body, provided with a distal end, tapered in the direction of the distal tip, a proximal end and a conductor channel passing through it. Conductor passes through the conductor channel for passing the dilator when inserted. At the proximal end of the elongated body, there is a lubrication port for the introduction of a liquid conductor lubricant into the conductor channel. Conductor is provided with a stopper preventing the proximal end of the conductor from passing through the conductor channel in the direction of the distal tip of the dilator. Stopper is configured to receive a syringe for introducing a liquid conductor lubricant into the conductor channel when the stopper is inserted into the lubrication port. Distal end of the dilator is bent in the direction of the distal tip and narrows in diameter from a value in the range of 14–24 according to the French scale (French) to 2 units according to the French scale (French). Method for expanding a urethral stricture by means of the above device includes lubricating a conductor; inserting the distal tip of the conductor into the urethra and guiding the conductor along the urethra into the bladder; moving the dilator over the conductor until the distal tip of the dilator gets into the bladder; and removing the conductor and dilator from the urethra. Kit for expanding a urethral stricture includes the above device for expanding a urethral stricture and sterile packaging. Said package is adapted for opening to inject liquid conductor lubricant through the lubrication port for lubricating the conductor in the conductor channel and the part of the conductor that extends out of the distal tip of the dilator.
EFFECT: invention provides the higher safety of procedures, simplifies and speeds up the introduction of devices and also improves their performance.
